Advisor, Psychologist….or both
A client once commented jokingly something along the lines that he felt like I was part Advisor and part Psychologist. In reality that’s how it can feel when managing a client’s expectations during a private business sale process. There are always plenty of ups and downs and the need for continual engagement about what’s normal, unusual, unlikely, likely, curious, positive and so on. Overlaid on top is the overarching time line. Part of why I do what I do is because of these personal relationships, the client interactions and the outcomes which the client gets at the end of a journey which can sometimes go beyond a year.
We are in the people business, helping to guide and execute outcomes in line with our clients expectations. Along the way we get to know our clients deeply, far beyond just their business. Trust works both ways and we do our own diligence on potential clients at the outset, aiming to work for good honest commercial people.
